When I started collecting vintage silk Japanese kimonos several decades ago, I was intending to make a quilt.
I then started wearing kimono as dressing gowns, buying from a family in northern Japan.
When I had too many to wear, I started unpicking and washing the kimonos and my fabric collection began.
500+ kimonos later, many are unpicked, some are not and some are used in the talks I give about kimonos.
Thanks to my Ikea PAX wardrobe I can see exactly which fabric to use for my next project!
